Groundbreaking Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Arrives in the Middle East as Verita Neuro Partners with Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai

[PRESS RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT

SINGAPORE, 15 January 2026]

Dubai, UAE – A new era of hope has begun for thousands of people living with spinal cord injuries across the Middle East, Gulf, Africa, and beyond. Verita Neuro, the global pioneer and exclusive provider of Epidural Stimulation surgery, has entered into a landmark partnership with Fakeeh University Hospital (FUH), one of the region’s most respected academic medical centers. In Q1, 2026, Verita Neuro’s advanced spinal cord injury treatment will arrive in Dubai.

Hanna Charles, Chief Growth Officer of Verita Neuro, said: “Verita Neuro was the first in the world to offer Epidural Stimulation treatment to Spinal Cord Injury patients, outside of clinical trials. Since 2016, we have successfully treated more than 300 patients, travelling from more than 50 countries. Now, the Dubai location marks another world-first: patients in the Middle East, Africa and Europe will have direct access to the most advanced spinal cord injury treatment on the planet, without having to travel to Asia or the Americas.”

Epidural Stimulation treatment involves the surgical implantation of a small, programmable spinal cord stimulator into the epidural area of the spine. The device acts as a bridge, amplifying or reactivating signals from the brain to the body below the injury level, helping restore voluntary control and coordination. Verita Neuro remains the exclusive provider of Epidural Stimulation globally, using a proven treatment protocol. A 2025 peer-reviewed study – entitled Time Course of Motor Improvement by Epidural Stimulation After Spinal Cord Injury: An Interim Analysis of a Phase II Trial and co-authored by four members of Verita Neuro’s Medical Board – showed that Verita Neuro’s protocol improves motor recovery by an average of 78%, and found evidence to suggest that Epidural Stimulation triggers long-term neuroplastic changes.

Verita Neuro is incredibly proud to partner with Fakeeh University Hospital, an institution that shares an absolute commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. This partnership reinforces the hospital’s position as a destination for cutting-edge medicine and gives patients access to a therapy that has already restored voluntary movement, bladder and bowel control, blood-pressure regulation, and independence to people who were told they would never move again.

The new program will be led by a world-class team from day one and performed under the surgical direction of internationally renowned functional neurosurgeon Dr. Tommaso Tufo, who has been personally appointed by Verita Neuro to implant every epidural stimulator in Dubai. Dr. Tufo is a UK and EU Board Certified Senior Neurosurgeon, with over 17 years of experience including more than 4,000 successful brain and spine surgeries and 30 published research articles.

The Dubai center features state-of-the-art operating theatres, dedicated neuro-rehabilitation facilities, expert spinal cord stimulator mapping team, and a fully trained multilingual staff ready to deliver the complete Verita Neuro protocol from the very first day of operations.

Julian Andriesz, CEO of Verita Neuro and parent Verita Healthcare, commented: “This is more than an expansion – it’s a mission fulfilled. After ten years of refining this technology and returning movement to patients who had been paralyzed for decades, we are thrilled to make it available in one of the world’s most connected and forward-thinking cities.”

The Dubai launch further strengthens Verita Neuro’s global network, which already includes flagship centers in Thailand, Mexico, and Canada.
