Ataxia Treatment at Verita Neuro

Ataxia is a neurological condition that can affect coordination, balance, and movement. In many cases it is progressive, and it can be caused by a multitude of issues, including; genetic makeup, stroke, traumatic brain injury, toxins and medications, as well as other conditions that involve the cerebellum and pons.

The daily challenges that come with Ataxia can affect every area of life, and Verita Neuro aims to provide a compassionate approach to treatments we developed to make everyday a little easier for our patients.

What is Ataxia?

Ataxia is an umbrella term that describes the lack of voluntary coordination of muscle movements – usually caused by cerebellar dysfunction. The cerebellum is the area of the brain that is responsible for coordination and fine motor skills. Issues with your cerebellum can lead to slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, tremors, spasms, and impaired balance, as well as other symptoms. In severe cases, Ataxia can also lead to neuropathy, vision problems, respiratory problems, and neuropathic pain.
