Patient progress update on Jose from the USA 🇺🇸 In January 2024, Jose’s life took an unexpected turn when he was hit by a car while walking, leaving him with a …C4 complete spinal cord injury. Determined to regain independence and mobility, Jose joined us in Mexico 🇲🇽 with a clear goal: to restore hand and arm function for everyday tasks and, most importantly, to hold his kids again.
After undergoing treatment, including the implantation of two Epidural Stimulators, Stem Cell treatment, and 178 hours of physical therapy and mapping, Jose has made good progress. He has regained voluntary muscle function in his lower and upper limbs, including his hip flexors, quadriceps, and distal lower limb functions. His trunk control has significantly improved, allowing for better stability in both standing and sitting positions. Jose has also achieved better shoulder movement, activation of his biceps and triceps, and improved wrist and hand grip.

Patient progress update on Colin from South Africa 🇿🇦 who joined us in Thailand 🇹🇭 to undergo Epidural Stimulation and LamiSpine surgery. Colin, sustained a T7 complete spinal cord injury in …a motorbike accident in May 2019. Before treatment, Colin lived with no movement below his injury level but remained an avid adventurer, enjoying activities like fishing, hunting, and hand-cycling marathons. His primary goal was to regain voluntary movement, and his determination is now yielding results.
Since beginning treatment, Colin has made significant progress. With the stimulator, he can now move his legs, performing kicking and pushing motions. He is also able to push himself forward while stepping with a Pacer and has gained some knee control, although locking his knees remains a challenge.
A customized mapping program targeting his trunk has helped Colin sit up straighter, which he says will greatly benefit daily activities like driving, riding his ATV, and fishing. Additionally, he is experiencing the return of proprioception in his hips, allowing him to feel when lifting or moving them—an exciting step forward in his recovery journey.

Patient progress update on Bruno, who sustained a C5 spinal cord injury in August 2022 after a diving accident, resulting in incomplete quadriplegia and complete paraplegia. Currently with us in …Thailand 🇹🇭, Bruno has been undergoing treatment, including two Epidural Stimulators and Stem Cell treatment, as part of his recovery journey.
Since beginning his rehabilitation, Bruno has achieved remarkable progress. Before treatment, he was unable to move his lower body at all. With the stimulator activated, Bruno can now move his legs, with significant control when lifting them, and can perform kicking movements. He has improved his ability to stand, locking his knees effectively, and can now perform ankle lifts on his left side, supporting his stepping exercises. His endurance has increased dramatically—where he could only walk short distances before fatigue, he can now complete 2-3 rounds without tiring.
Bruno’s upper body is also showing significant gains. With stimulation, he can extend his elbow against gravity, and his grip strength has improved enough for him to grasp, squeeze, and hold objects like beads, coins, and a 350 ml water bottle. He can even write independently with wrist support. His shoulder strength has progressed too, with the ability to perform pull-down exercises using 5 kg on each side or 11 kg with both.
Thanks to tailored mapping programs, Bruno’s low blood pressure is now more manageable, enabling him to handle more intense exercises. Sitting steadily with less support has also become possible, further improving his independence.

He also experienced chronic pain and challenges with bowel and bladder function.
Since undergoing Epidural Stimulation surgery and Stem Cell treatment, Deo has made significant progress. His blood pressure is now easily regulated with the stimulator, which has improved his endurance during exercises and stepping. He has regained bowel and bladder sensations, enabling him to feel when he needs to go to the toilet. Deo can now kick, lift his legs, and even take steps with the stimulator activated.

Inspiring progress of Dominique, one of our patients receiving Epidural Stimulation and Stem Cell treatment in Bangkok 🇹🇭. Dominique, from Belgium 🇧🇪, sustained a C6-C7 incomplete spinal cord injury in …February 2023 after falling down the stairs at home. The injury left her paralyzed in both legs, though she has some movement in her toes and knees, and she is currently missing fine motor skills in her hands and fingers.
By the second week of treatment, Dominique’s progress began to accelerate rapidly. With weekly goals set for her, she has not only met but exceeded expectations every time. Dominique can now lift her legs and step forward and backward, lock her knees while stepping and standing, and even move her ankle without the stimulator activated—a truly remarkable milestone in her recovery. Her blood pressure has also improved significantly since the beginning of her treatment, laying the groundwork for further advancements.
Dominique’s determination and resilience set her on the right path to achieving her goals of standing independently, transferring herself, and regaining hand function.

Patient progress update on Benaya, one of our long-stay patients in Thailand 🇹🇭, who has been with us since April 2023. In May 2021, at just 19 years old, Benaya …from Israel 🇮🇱 suffered a life-changing C5-C6 incomplete spinal cord injury caused by a gunshot wound. As a quadriplegic, Benaya qualified for the implantation of two epidural stimulators, which has been a cornerstone of his comprehensive treatment program at Verita Neuro. Alongside the stimulators, he has been undergoing stem cell treatment, mapping, and hundreds of hours of physical therapy.
In recent months, Benaya reached a significant milestone: he can now walk using a Pacer with much less support from Therapists. This improvement reflects the considerable gains he has made in his trunk and leg strength, allowing him to better lock his knees and achieve greater control while standing and stepping. His endurance has also improved, enabling him to push himself forward with greater independence.
Benaya’s upper body strength has advanced significantly as well. His right bicep strength has increased, allowing him to lift 1.5 kg compared to 1 kg last year. His pulling strength has nearly doubled, improving from 3 kg to 6-6.5 kg on his right side and from 1 kg to 4-5 kg on his left side. His triceps are much stronger, and despite hand function not being a primary focus, he can now pinch and grab smaller objects, such as beads, showcasing improved fine motor skills.
Thanks to his treatment, Benaya’s knee extensions have seen major improvements, contributing to better standing and stepping abilities. His overall leg strength and endurance continue to progress, making each step toward independence even more impactful.
