LamiSpine Treatment for Spinal Cord Injury

Verita Neuro created the LamiSpine procedure to assist patients with regaining bodily functions after a complete or incomplete injury. Patients with an injury at any T Level will benefit most from this treatment.

What is LamiSpine Treatment?

LamiSpine Treatment is a unique procedure, created by Verita Neuro, global leaders in innovative spinal cord treatments to target recovery after spinal injuries.

The treatment process includes a laminectomy – the removal of a small section of a spinal cord injury patient’s spine called a “Lamina” – before surgical intra-spinal cord injections of hAFSCs

hAFSC’s are multipotent Stem Cells harvested from human amniotic fluid, meaning they can differentiate into a variety of different cell types. Those cells originate from the ectoderm, which is a germ layer responsible for forming the neural tube, making hAFSCs perfect in treatment of neurological conditions.. Cytotherapy refers to the use of living cells as a form of treatment for regenerative medicine or cell-based therapies.

This treatment targets the precise location of the injured spinal cord tissue using AFSCs, delivering the maximum impact directly to the injury itself. We have treated patients from all over the world with LamiSpine, offering realistic outcomes and inspiring success stories.

Who can be helped through LamiSpine Treatment?

No two spinal injuries are alike, yet LamiSpine is breakthrough in Spinal Cord Injury Treatment and has been particularly effective for people living with:

  • Complete or near complete spinal injuries
  • Injuries involving thoracic and lumbar levels
  • A small number of Epidural Stimulation patients may also qualify for LamiSpine treatment

Our team of world-renowned Neurosurgeons carefully review each case, including injury type, medical history, and overall health, before determining if LamiSpine is the right option.

LamiSpine Expected Results

LamiSpine is a unique treatment that can target injuries that no other treatments can do with such precision. While outcomes differ from patient to patient, our LamiSpine patients have often experienced:

  • The ability to stand or take assisted steps
  • Voluntary limb movement
  • Increased strength and stamina
  • Enhanced sensation
  • Stabilized blood pressure
  • Better temperature regulation
  • Neuropathic pain relief
  • Improved bladder and bowel function
  • Improved sexual function

Many of our patients also report benefits towards their mental health and potential for a more independent life.

Some patients notice improvement during their initial recovery, while others take longer to see results as they continue physiotherapy. Results depend on injury level, duration, health, and personal commitment to rehabilitation.

The treatment journey

  • Assessment

Our expert team will begin with a full clinical review. We will explore your medical history, imagining, neurological assessment, and a discussion about realistic goals and risks.

  • Surgery

A small targeted laminectomy is performed to expose the injured spinal segment, followed by a precise intra-spinal injection of cultured cells. We will walk you through the risks and expected outcomes before surgery so you can feel comfortable about your decision.

  • Recovery

Post-op recovery times vary from patient to patient, but typically most people experience a short initial recovery period in hospital while healing is closely monitored and managed.

  • Intensive therapy

Following medical clearance from our medical team, our patients take part in an intense rehabilitation period (typically over 20-24 days), and includes hands-on physiotherapy, task-specific training, and techniques such as paired associative stimulation (PAS) to encourage new neural connections.

  • Follow-up and adaptation

We remain with you at every stage, offering medical support and long-term support to help integrate gains into daily life and adapt the plan as progress is made.

What is a realistic outlook after LamiSpine treatment?

As with all our treatments, we make no promises about the results. Outcomes vary greatly depending on the nature and extent of injury. Many of our patients report benefiting from reduced pain, improved mobility, and better function.

Risks are present, as with all surgeries, but by using innovative techniques and safety protocols as well as  some of the most experienced neurosurgeons in the world, Verita Neuro helps to minimise those risks.

LamiSpine requires commitment, from undergoing surgery and recovery to participating in rehabilitation afterwards. Improvements may come quickly for some, but for others progress can be slower. What we can guarantee is compassionate care and guidance at every stage of your journey and ongoing support for life.
