Dr. Rodrigo Mercado Pimentel, MD

Neurosurgeon, Mexico

Responsible for the surgical implantation of Epidural Stimulation devices and all neurosurgical procedures for Verita Neuro in Guadalajara, Mexico.

When it comes to neuromodulation for spinal cord injury, Dr. Rodrigo is widely regarded as the most experienced neurosurgeon in Latin America, with neuroscience experience dating back to 2005. He is a functional neurosurgeon certified by the Mexican Council of Neurological Surgery and leads Functional Neurosurgery at Civil Hospital in Guadalajara. Alongside his work with Verita Neuro, Dr. Rodrigo consults across specialist medical centres in Mexico. His clinical focus includes epidural spinal cord stimulation for motor and autonomic function, as well as neuromodulation for Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. Dr. Rodrigo has published multiple peer-reviewed papers on neurovascular conditions and the central nervous system.

Dr. Beatriz Perez Hernandez, MD​

Medical Director, Mexico

Leads rehabilitation and recovery programmes for Verita Neuro in Mexico, overseeing post-surgical care and long-term neurological rehabilitation for patients.

An expert in neuro-rehabilitation for spinal cord injury and neurological conditions, Dr. Beatriz supports patients through complex neurological recovery. She initially trained in rehabilitation medicine before specialising in neuro-rehabilitation and completing advanced clinical rotations in spinal cord injury in Houston, Texas. As well as working with Verita Neuro, Dr. Beatriz serves as Head of Rehabilitation at “Hospital Regional de Guadalajara Dr. Valentín Gómez Farías” and is certified by the Mexican Council of Rehabilitation Medicine. She is a member of the American Spinal Injury Association and has published two peer-reviewed studies with the organisation on autonomic functions and neuromodulation-enhanced rehabilitation.

Prof. Dr. Guilherme Lepski, MD

Neurosurgeon, Brazil

Acts as a visiting consultant Neurosurgeon and advisor to Verita Neuro, contributing specialist expertise in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery.

An internationally recognized Neurosurgeon, Prof. Dr. Lepski has practised in neurosurgery since completing his residency in 2004. He trained at the University of São Paulo and is currently Head of Neurosurgery at HCor Hospital in São Paulo, as well as a Private Docent at the University of Tübingen in Germany. Prof. Dr. Lepski specializes in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery and practices clinically in both Brazil and Germany. Alongside his advisory role with Verita Neuro, he consults for multiple international institutions and has published peer-reviewed research in areas including stem cells, neurodegenerative conditions, electrical stimulation.

Dr Sachin Kandhari, MBBS, MA

Neurosurgeon, India

Acts as a visiting consultant Neurosurgeon to Verita Neuro and leads neurosurgical care at IBS Hospital, a Verita Neuro partner facility in India. 

Dr. Sachin is a senior neurosurgeon specialising in spinal cord injury and neuromodulation, with over 20 years of clinical experience. He is the Founder and Managing Director of the Institute of Brain and Spine Hospital (IBS), where he leads advanced programmes in functional neurosurgery and neuromodulation. Dr. Sachin completed postgraduate medical training in stereotactic neurosurgery and deep brain stimulation and has extensive experience in minimally invasive spinal surgery. He is internationally recognised for pioneering several firsts in India and South Asia, including the clinical use of Cyberdyne robotics to accelerate patient recovery. He is a member of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies and has published research on neuromodulation.

Dr. Nasir Majeed, MBBS

Global Medical Director & Head of Research and Development

Oversees all medical, surgical, and rehabilitation teams across Verita Neuro locations, consulting on the treatment plan for every patient to ensure clinical consistency and safety.

Dr. Nasir helped to build the foundations for what is now Verita Neuro in 2014 and has personally consulted on the treatment plan of every patient treated by the organisation since its inception. With over a decade in translational (“lab to bedside”) medicine, Dr. Nasir has published peer-reviewed research on the treatment of neurological and autoimmune conditions, including stem cells, their mechanism of action and their role in immunotherapy. He was among the first to combine Epidural Stimulation with Stem Cell treatments and developed the world’s first clinical guidelines for epidural stimulation implantation for motor function, alongside the associated rehabilitation and mapping protocols.

Dr. Rodrigo Vilches Aranguren, MD​

Medical Director, Mexico​

Leads the mapping process for Verita Neuro patients in Mexico, optimising epidural stimulation settings to achieve maximum muscle response during rehabilitation.

A specialist in neuro-rehabilitation and neuromuscular optimisation, Dr. Rodrigo has worked in neurological rehabilitation since 2006. He trained in Rehabilitation Medicine at the National Institute of Rehabilitation in Mexico with an advanced specialty in Neuro-Rehabilitation. Dr. Rodrigo undertook clinical rotations in spinal cord injury and electromyography at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Los Angeles, with further training in spasticity management and pain medicine in Madrid. As well as working with Verita Neuro, he is a Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Cancún and is certified by the Mexican Council of Rehabilitation Medicine. He is a member of the American Spinal Injury Association and has co-authored peer-reviewed research on neuromodulation-enhanced rehabilitation.

Lead Consultant Neurosurgery, Dubai

Leads neurosurgical care for Verita Neuro in Dubai and personally implants all Epidural Stimulation devices at this location. 

An internationally recognised functional Neurosurgeon, Dr. Tommaso has performed over 4,000 brain and spine surgeries since completing his neurosurgical residency in 2009. He is UK and EU board certified and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Neurosurgery at the Catholic University of Rome. Dr. Tommaso has held several senior leadership roles including Director of the Functional and Movement Disorder Group for the Rome and Lazio region and Lead Consultant Neurosurgeon for brain and spine surgery at Fakeeh University Hospital, Verita Neuro’s partner hospital in Dubai. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed research papers, including work on epilepsy, dystonia, and Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Paulina Marin is a Doctor of Medicine with a specialization in Neuropathy. She is the attending physician to the Verita Neuro patients and helps them through their recovery. She is based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Dr Paulina first qualified as a physiotherapist, before later completing her medical education. She has a breadth of experience in physical therapy and rehabilitation and chose to focus on neurological conditions, with training in advanced Neurotherapy techniques and neurophysiology & Neurotherapy in neurologic patients. She regularly attends conferences such as the ISPRM conference and the National Congress of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Rehabilitation, to stay up to date with the latest advances in the field. This neurological experience, combined with medical training and vast experience in physiotherapy offers the perfect combination of knowledge and makes Dr Paulina an extremely valuable addition to the Verita Neuro Team.

Head Nurse, Mexico

Tony graduated from the Universidad de Guadalajara in 2018, before completing his internship year at the IMSS hospital #180 en Tlajomulco, Mexico. During his internship he gained experience in a number of areas, including hospitalization, emergency service, intensive therapy amongst others, offering him extensive knowledge of patient care. Before joining Verita Neuro, he was a nurse in the emergency area at the Real San Jose hospital. He also has knowledge of care for critically ill patients, adults, children and neonates. He is AHA certified in advanced life support. Tony prioritizes providing a friendly approach with his patients, and ensuring that they feel both safe and positive. Tony likes to read and learn new things.

Graduating as a nurse from the University of Guadalajara in 2019, Vero gained a solid foundation in geriatrics, pediatrics, and surgery. Over the past five years, she has worked as a general nurse, starting her career with geriatric oncology patients. This experience led her to specialize in administering chemotherapy at home, ensuring comfort and care for patients in vulnerable situations. Vero’s dedication in this field earned her the role of nursing supervisor, where she coordinated a team of over 50 nurses.

Passionate about nursing, she places great importance on emotional support, aiming to create a warm, optimal environment for patients during their hospital stay. Vero is committed to providing comprehensive care that promotes recovery and assists with physical rehabilitation.

Kit began his career with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, from the highly respected Mahidol University. With over 20 years experience in the field, he has worked with a broad range of renowned organizations such as the United Nations and ‘Handicap International’, in both Thailand and the United States. He is now the Head of Physical Therapy at Verita Neuro and oversees all of our physical therapy programs. He has been working with Epidural Stimulation patients for over 5 years and is one of the most experienced therapists in this field globally. Kit’s philosophy is “The human brain has no limit of capability so work hard today to get better for tomorrow”.

Before joining Verita Neuro in 2017, Mai’s background was in physiotherapy. Having completed a Master’s in Neuroscience, she spent some time as a lecturer of physiotherapy. Mai played an integral role in developing Verita Neuro’s therapist team and continues to facilitate the integration of neurorehabilitation techniques into the treatment experiences of our patients. She oversees day-to-day operations in our Bangkok clinic and helps to support patients in areas they may need, throughout their treatment.

Denisz Kovács

Physical Therapist, Europe

Denisz studied at the University of Szeged in Hungary and graduated as a physiotherapist. During his academic study, he actively participated in scientific and technological research and student conferences in Hungary and abroad. After graduation, he gained professional experience in robotics for neurorehabilitation. Since 2018, he has worked with patients with neurological conditions, using robotic based therapies as well as conventional-activity based therapies. His current role in Budapest Hungary is at Oaktree Private Rehabilitation Clinic, where he works with patients and he will continue to work remotely for Verita Neuro as a ‘Mobile Mapping Expert’. He frequently attends courses around neurorehabilitation, on topics such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and gait analysis. As well as working with patients, he is also a lecturer of neurology for physiotherapists.

Irvin finished university in 2019 with a physiotherapy degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, the most prestigious medical school in Latin America. He quickly moved into neurology, working with patients who had suffered trauma and accidents as well as neurological conditions. A diploma in advanced techniques in electrotherapy also helped Irvin to further specialize. He has worked for Verita Neuro for a number of years and is passionate about helping patients to regain their independence.

Ivan graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 2012, with a degree in physiotherapy, specializing in Neuro-rehabilitation. He has continued to develop his academic and research strengths in the neurological field, writing papers including “Importance of sensory references in the patient with neurological dysfunction” and “Analyzing the treatment of patients with neurological dysfunction” He has years of experience with spinal cord injury patients and is an advisor to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Jalisco.

Juan Francisco Castillo Herrera​

Juan left Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 2019 with a degree in Physical Therapy, having worked in the Neuro-rehabilitation field, with spinal cord and brain injury patients, since 2018. His specialism is in electrotherapy and as well as working full time as mapping specialist for Verita Neuro, he is also part of the American Spinal Injury Association of Latin America’s subcommittee and teaches part time at his own university.

Julio César studied at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, graduating with a degree in Physiotherapy. Before moving into the neuro-rehabilitation field, he worked for the Municipal Sports Council of Zapopan, Jalisco, managing the rehabilitation work there. He worked with elite athletes, helping them rebuild after injury. He has been with Verita Neuro for a number of years and is a mapping specialist.

Eliel graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 2018 with a degree in Physical Therapy and has since specialized in working with neurological patients, suffering from spinal cord and brain injury, strokes and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, Eliel undertook a masters in “Electrical Stimulation of the Neurological Patient”, improving his treatment protocol for patients with nerve injury. As well as working with Verita Neuro, he is also passionate about supporting patients with dysphagia and consistently works with patients across these fields to help improve their quality of life.

Montserrat Medrano Gutierrez

Montserrat graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara with a degree in Physical Therapy. With two master’s degrees in Geriatrics, she has a wealth of experience treating patients with cerebrovascular events and traumatic brain injuries.

Her passion for advancing care led her to specialize in spinal cord injury treatment in Cuba, where she gained further expertise in helping patients reclaim their strength and independence.

Alvaro is a highly skilled physical therapist and graduate of Universidad de Especialidades in Guadalajara, with extensive experience in evaluating and treating physical impairments, particularly in patients with spinal cord injuries. His work focuses on improving patient function and fostering independence to enhance overall quality of life. Alvaro has gained valuable expertise in neurorehabilitation through his experience in clinics and hospitals, where he has specialized in treating neurological disorders. Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, he creates personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each patient.

Hanna Charles

Chief Growth Officer, Director of Patient Services

Hanna Charles is the Chief Growth Officer and Director of Patient Services, working on developing Verita Neuro as a business and ensuring high quality of patient relationships and care. 

 

Following the completion of her degree in Biotechnology, Hanna has gone on to gain more than twelve years of healthcare, medical tourism, and leadership experience, across four continents. At Verita Neuro, she oversees the company’s worldwide operations as well as customer service and support, including end-to-end management of pre-, during, and post-treatment services. She plays a key role in the continued development of strategic relationships with top international hospitals and doctors, building and strengthening world-class services that meet and exceed the expectations of our customers in all countries.

Hanna believes in empowering patients by giving them access to progressive, tailor-made healthcare of tomorrow, and the tools to make educated healthcare decisions. Her team is dedicated to supporting our clients and their families in navigating the journey of safe, explorative treatments which unlock endless possibilities.

Vea Gaygon is a Patient Representative at Verita Neuro and the main point of contact for patients. She supports patients in understanding and choosing treatment options and helps facilitate the practical arrangements for their stay. 

 

Vea, a Registered Nurse, is a graduate of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, the best nursing school in the Philippines. She has a breadth of experience working in very multicultural and international settings. Vea previously lived in the Philippines, and her professional experience included helping patients in a maternity clinic and conducting health and safety programs as an Occupational Health Nurse. She came to Thailand to foresee health and safety at one of the leading international schools and was working with an organization, helping international cancer patients to secure treatment, before joining Verita Neuro.

Patient Representative

Sofia Corona is a Patient Representative whose unique combination of professional skills and life experience make her an expert in Verita Neuro’s services. She has a background in customer services and was previously treated by our expert team.

Sofia has a breadth of experience across a range of industries, beginning her career with a degree in Graphic Design and later undertaking a diploma in Help Relationship Skills. She worked in Publicity, Customer Service, and Sales for a leasing company before suffering a car accident in 2018, which left her with a spinal cord injury. In November of the same year, she was treated by Verita Neuro, with epidural stimulation and stem cell therapy, resulting in an improvement of her physical condition. She became a public speaker, talking about her experience at conferences, and in 2021 she published her first book. She joined Verita Neuro in 2021 bringing her unique combination of skills and experience which make her perfectly suited to support our patients through their recovery journey. Sofia is trilingual and speaks Spanish, English and Italian.

Dulce González is an expert in customer service and is passionate about human development. She is committed to ensuring that patients receive the best possible treatment experience. She is currently based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Dulce completed a degree in International Business Communication, before going on to work with international companies such as Eastman Kodak Company and Xfinity. She had a interest in and commitment to human development, prompted by having a daughter who lives with a long term medical condition – congenital heart disorder. Therefore, she empathizes with others in similar situations and has knowledge of managing life around hospital and clinic visits. She is committed to supporting both patients and caregivers, to ensure that they receive the best possible treatment experience. Dulce is also bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.

Keith has over 10 years of experience in cellular and translational medicine for spinal cord injury patients. Keith is currently based in the United States supporting both hospitals. 


Keith’s journey in healthcare began during his university years as a prehospital rescuer, igniting a lifelong passion for helping those in need. After a successful career in finance, Keith found his true calling, dedicating himself to delivering cutting-edge cellular therapies and implantable devices to patients around the world.


A cancer survivor himself, Keith understands firsthand the transformative power of innovative treatments. His own experience with experimental therapy not only saved his life but fueled his commitment to supporting others facing major diseases and debilitating injuries. Over the past decade, Keith has worked closely with patients across six continents, blending compassion with expertise to provide exceptional client care. Having lived in four countries, Keith brings a global perspective to his work and speaks conversational Spanish and Mandarin, ensuring that patients feel supported every step of the way.

Pan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Rattana Bundit University. During college, she had the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with para-athletes, ultimately leading her to join Verita Neuro as Treatment Coordinator after graduation. In her role, Pan welcomes patients upon their arrival in Bangkok, providing assistance throughout their entire stay. She is passionate about ensuring that all patients have a memorable and positive journey treatment experience in Thailand.She began working with the Verita Neuro team in 2023. She is passionate about combining physiotherapy with technology in order to create optimum and advanced rehabilitation experiences for patients.
